My sister is a couple of months pregnant, she just shared the wonderful news with me recently. Anyhow, she has been bleeding a little and I’m wondering if this is normal?

It’s probably spotting, which happens when the egg attaches to the wall of the womb, some lining gets expelled and it can be light and bloody. So, nothing too serious I’d imagine.

Around 20% of women do experience some bleeding, particularly early on in the pregnancy, and it’s nothing to worry about. If she feels something is awry, then take her to the hospital straight away.

An exciting time! A little blood is normal for some women, it’s called spotting, and often happens in the first trimester. Don’t worry too much but if it gets any heavier, or doesn’t seem to stop, then take her to the doctor.

Bleeding happens to some people and not others, it really depends on how much blood there is, but I would go and get it checked out just to be sure.
